Daily Homework- Students should read every night for 30 minutes. Ask them questions about what they read; like who are the main characters, any interesting words or words you do not understand, or what was their favorite part they read so far? Students should also practice their Multiplication and Division facts for 15 minutes each night.
Math- We are working on solving multi-digit division problems using the Area Model, Partial Product(Big 7) and long division. They may have 1 or 2 problems to do each night if they did not complete the work in class. Flexible Math groups are here, which will be reviewing all methods and may have some homework at night.
ELA/ Daily 5- We are finishing up our unit1 and the Revolutionary War. Next unit will deal with Science and the novel Holes. Every Friday, each student will be turning in a Reader's Response on the book they are reading that week. This can be hand written or it can be sent to me through Google docs- at [email protected]. Each student has received a check list on what should be in the Response. The strategy for this week is making a connection with the text. They may also add any words that they have found with the en, em, sub, fore, semi, or anti prefix.
Writing- We are working on writing Opinion pieces. Each opinion piece should have at least 2 to 3 reasons with details to support them and 4 to 5 paragraphs long.
